Milwaukee Brewers skipper Pat Murphy is quite direct in how he handles his players, and in how he handles public interviews. Fresh off guiding the ballclub to its first championship in franchise history, the two-time reigning National League Manager of the Year (favored to win it again) is feeling especially open. He held nothing back during Friday's World Series celebration, informing the legions of fans who were in attendance about the bodily problem he faced at the parade.

“I had to pee as bad as anybody has had to pee,” a relatable Murphy said, per the SportsCenter X account. “Good job holding it together,” Brewers play-by-play broadcaster and emcee Brian Anderson responded.

End of story, right? Not so much. “I didn't say I held it together,” Murphy joked, much to the delight of a packed and exuberant crowd.

It was a long World Series parade for Pat Murphy 😂

Brewers fans should expect nothing else from the quick-witted and generally affable 67-year-old. He has eaten food from his pocket, engaged in playful banter with reporters and took a swipe at the New York Yankees shortly after winning the World Series. The man likes to have a good time, just as long as his team is playing the game the right way.

Milwaukee certainly did that in 2026, earning an MLB-best and franchise-best 103 wins before posting an 11-2 record in the playoffs. The Brewers out-hit and out-pitched their opponents, relying on back-breaking rallies and a usually unflappable bullpen when their power and starting pitching was limited. They stayed disciplined and hungry, and Pat Murphy is a big reason why.

Following an unceremonious sweep by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 2025 NL Championship Series, the New York native pressed the right buttons this year. Even in a post-Fall Classic haze, partly induced by the many alcoholic beverages that were provided for the squad, Murphy knew the right move to make.

Keep the people laughing. The party continues in Milwaukee.
