An unexpected question during head coach Dan Quinn's Wednesday press conference became a talking point ahead of the Washington Commanders' Week 9 matchup against the Los Angeles Rams. The exchange drew attention after a reporter asked how Washington planned to contain Davante Adams, seemingly unaware that Adams is currently sidelined with a significant injury and will not suit up for Sunday's matchup.

The reporter asked Quinn how Washington planned to contain Adams, highlighting the receiver's playmaking ability and four touchdowns this season.

“Hey coach, Davante Adams is one of those playmaking wide receivers, four touchdowns on the year. What are some things in the secondary that you know that you have to lock in on a receiver of his caliber?” the reporter asked. Rather than correcting the reporter about Adams' availability, Quinn shifted the discussion toward the challenges of defending the Rams' offense.

“It's detailed; it's aggressive, of how they utilize guys,” Quinn said.

“What they do differently than most [teams] is the different packages of players. Sometimes it's three tight ends, and only one receiver. Other times it's three receivers.” The awkward exchange was shared by Polymarket Blitz on X.

Davante Adams last played on October 18 against the Arizona Cardinals. He exited Los Angeles' 18-16 loss with a non-contact injury. Further tests revealed a ruptured hamstring that required surgery. He faces an estimated six to 10 weeks of recovery.

The Rams will miss one of their top offensive weapons against Washington. However, Puka Nacua remains a major threat in the passing game. He averages 94.2 receiving yards per game and has recorded three touchdowns in six appearances.

The reporter's question quickly sparked criticism on social media. However, Quinn chose not to address the mistake. Instead, he kept his focus on the Rams' offensive versatility.
