On Sunday morning, the Washington Commanders dropped to 1-3 with an ugly 30-13 loss to the Indianapolis Colts in a game played in London. The Commanders entered this game with Marcus Mariota under center in place of the injured Jayden Daniels, but he too ended up going down with a knee injury, forcing Washington to turn to third-string QB Athan Kaliakmanis.

Kaliakmanis struggled mightily in the unexpected heavy playing time, completing less than 50 percent of his passes and tossing an interception in the loss.

After the game, he gave his review of his tough outing.

“I’ve got to be better,” he said, per John Keim of ESPN on X, formerly Twitter.

Kaliakmanis was drafted in the seventh round this past April after playing college football at both Minnesota and Rutgers, and clearly, he had the usual struggles that rookies typically encounter when trying to adjust to the NFL level.

Meanwhile, any good vibes that the Commanders picked up from their surprising win last week vs the Seattle Seahawks were quickly erased with this ugly performance, which also featured a fall back down to Earth for the team's defensive unit after a strong performance last week.

The good news for the Commanders is that Daniels is expected back sooner rather than later, as the former Offensive Rookie of the Year opted not to have surgery on the forearm injury he suffered against the Dallas Cowboys last month and was back at practice this past week.

Washington will next hit the field next Sunday vs the New York Giants.
