Christopher Russo, aka Chris Russo, has always been recognized as one of Major League Baseball's voices; however, his reputation might not be enough to secure him an interview with Milwaukee Brewers' manager, Pat Murphy.
Following their sweep of the Los Angeles Dodgers to secure their first World Series spot in more than four decades, Murphy appeared on Colin Cowherd's Fox Sports Radio show and also joined SiriusXM alongside Jim Gray, Drew Brees, and Matthew Stafford. However, when Russo requested Murphy for an interview last week, the Brewers declined.
“Five minutes later, the Brewers emailed my producer back and said, ‘Sorry, we cannot accommodate the request; Pat Murphy's schedule is too busy.' What? I'm a Hall of Famer. I'm on First Take!” Russo yelled and ranted. “Not only that, Pat Murphy on Monday night did Let's Go. No knocking Jim Gray, you know who was on? Stafford and Brees! They're football guys for crying out loud! I've been doing radio for 40-something years.”
Russo claimed that his producer submitted the request last week and Murphy had eight days before the start of the World Series. While Russo was willing to be flexible with his timing, the request was still denied by the Brewers. “You can't get me, Pat Murphy, for 10 minutes when I'm on five days a week, eight days before he plays the first World Series game? I am a piece of garbage!” Russo finished.
However, while Russo's claims about his Hall of Fame and veteran status are true, it's also the Brewers' personal choice to have Murphy avoid an interview with him. Especially when the radio host started his rant by belittling the Brewers. “These are the Milwaukee Brewers; these aren't the Yankees or the Dodgers,” he stated.
