The Chiefs haven’t had their starting left tackle over the first three weeks of the season. But it’s been difficult to notice, given the club’s offensive success.

That’s part of why Kahlil Benson has been named the league’s offensive rookie of the month.

An undrafted free agent out of Indiana, Benson has started each of the first three games, playing 100 percent of Kansas City’s offensive snaps. He did not play the position in college.

The NFL cited its Next Gen Stats, noting he’d allowed seven QB pressures in 106 pass blocking snaps, which is the third-fewest among all left tackles this season. Benson also has won the highest percentage of one-on-one matchups (84.0 percent, 89-of-106).

Benson is the eighth offensive lineman to ever win offensive rookie of the month — the first since Quenton Nelson in 2018.

The Chiefs will be on the road to face the Raiders in Week 4.
