The most disappointing player in the NFL so far this year has been New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye, who has much more closely resembled the postseason version of himself from last year, rather than the regular season MVP candidate that fans hoped would return to form. Maye suffered through arguably the worst start of his career last week against the Jacksonville Jaguars, in a game the team lost in blowout fashion.

Now, Maye has been urged to follow some sage advice from legendary Patriots quarterback Tom Brady from his final season in New England in order to get back on track.

“By avoiding picks and fumbles, he let the NFL's stingiest defense carry the Patriots… he knew it was better for the offense to stall out rather than go backwards because of a turnover… this is the greatest example Maye can now take from the greatest of all time,” opined Andrew Callahan of the Boston Herald, per his account on X, formerly Twitter.

Here, Callahan seems to be advising Maye to stop putting the ball in harm's way and trying to make so many special plays, even if it takes away much of the appeal that made Maye such an intriguing player to begin with.

Right now, something clearly has to change for Maye in order to get back on track, as the quarterback has been putting the ball on the ground or in the hands of opposing defensive backs with reckless abandon so far this season.

The Patriots will look to get back into the win column when they next hit the field on Sunday for a tough road game against the Buffalo Bills.
