Before a shocking Week 3 loss to the Washington Commanders, the Seattle Seahawks were on a roll. The team had won 12 straight games, dating back to not only before their Super Bowl run in the playoffs last season, but all the way back to Week 12 of the 2025 season. Of course, stellar defense, elite play out of Jaxson Smith-Njigba, and the development of Sam Darnold from former draft bust to solid NFL starter, all played a big role in Seattle's recent successes.
The team has been reliant on the running game, too, though, yet there has been a lot of turmoil and turnover at the position recently. In the Super Bowl, Kenneth Walker ran for 135 yards and earned Super Bowl MVP honors. This came after his partner in crime, Zach Charbonnet, tore his ACL in the divisional round, ending what had been an impressive backfield-by-committee situation for years.
Walker bolted to the Kansas City Chiefs in the offseason, and Charbonnet was placed on the PUP to begin the 2026 season. Because of that, the Seahawks drafted Jadarian Price in the first round of the 2026 NFL Draft. They also signed Emanuel Wilson in free agency and guaranteed George Holani a greater role. So far, the rushing attack has been pretty mediocre. Price, in particular, hasn't performed as well as hoped for. He had a fumble in limited time on the field last week.
Article Continues BelowThe Seahawks are set to get a rushing boost, though, as Charbonnet was just designated to return to practice, meaning he could be back on the game field by Week 5. Charbonnet's return to practice opens up a 21-day window in which he can practice without counting against the 53-man roster.
In the past, Charbonnet was best as Seattle's red zone weapon. While it could take some time for the running back to get his feet under him, he could be a sneaky weapon to add in fantasy leagues. Teams know that Smith-Njigba is Seattle's biggest threat, which could really open up the rushing attack that has yet to reach its potential. Charbonnet may return to form as a touchdown producer, and fantasy managers could reap the rewards.
