The Milwaukee Brewers are moving on in the MLB playoffs. The Brewers took a 3-1 win over the San Diego Padres on Wednesday night to advance to the NLCS, where they will face the Los Angeles Dodgers. Now, the Brewers look to end the Dodgers' quest for a three-peat while making the World Series for the first time since 1982.
Now, one former player and a Hall of Famer is making sure to congratulate the Brewers on their success by posting on social media.
“Nobody more deserving than the city of Milwaukee and the fans,” CC Sabathia posted on X.
Sabathia won a World Series with the New York Yankees in 2009 and is wearing a Yankees hat in the Hall of Fame. The Yankees were eliminated from the playoffs on Wednesday as well.
Article Continues BelowWhile Sabathia is often remembered as a member of the Yankees, or from early in his career with the Cleveland Indians, he had a short but impactful stay with the Milwaukee Brewers. In 2008, Cleveland traded Sabathia to the Brewers. On the final day of the regular season, he pitched a complete-game four-hitter, sending the Brewers to the playoffs for the first time since 1982. The Brewers would lose to the eventual World Series Champion Philadelphia Phillies in the 2008 NLDS. Sabathia would sign with the New York Yankees that offseason.
That 2008 season was the first time they had made the playoffs in the National League, after starting in the American League from their founding in 1969 through realignment that took place in 1998. Since then, they have been to the playoffs nine times and won the NL Central seven times. Still, the Brewers have never made it past the NLCS, losing to the Dodgers three of the four times they made it that far.
