The New York Knicks are currently making the final preparations for Tuesday night's game against the Philadelphia 76ers, which will be the first of the new season for both teams. Before the game, the Knicks will be hoisting a banner and receiving championship rings to commemorate last year's NBA title, which was the first in 53 years for the franchise.
A key reason why the Knicks were able to defeat the San Antonio Spurs in that series was the play of wing OG Anunoby, and specifically his epic tip-in in Game 4 with just a second remaining that instantly became one of the most iconic plays in franchise history.
Now, Knicks icon Carmelo Anthony has weighed in on that moment with a hot take, calling it the “greatest moment in sports” for him, per SNY Knicks on X, formerly Twitter.
“It's funny how in Knicks history you go from the dark days of missing the tip-in to actually making the tip-in,” he added.
Indeed, many Knicks fans drew comparisons to Patrick Ewing's infamous missed layup in the playoffs against the Indiana Pacers in the 1990s as the direct antithesis to Anunoby's successful tip-in last year, which made New York's triumph in 2026 all the sweeter.

They'll also be facing off against a 76ers team that fancies itself a legit title contender on Tuesday night.
In any case, tipoff between New York and Philadelphia is slated for 7:00 pm ET from Madison Square Garden.
