The New England Patriots recently improved to 4-2 with a narrow home win over the New York Jets on Sunday afternoon. This game marked the return of wide receiver AJ Brown from an ankle injury, although he didn't exactly distinguish himself, making multiple key mistakes in the win.

Now, ESPN analyst and former Jets head coach Rex Ryan has blasted Brown for his performance with a wild personal reference.

“You know I’m an expert in a few things, and one of them is feet,” he said, noting that Brown had “feet for hands” in this game, per Saca312 on Reddit.

Ryan has never been shy about his affinity for feet, and the fact that he was willing to use that personal anecdote to roast Brown shows how flabbergasted he was by the wide receiver's performance in his return game.

Among Brown's most notable mistakes was muffing an onside kick late in the game, although the Patriots were luckily able to recover the ball anyway instead of risking giving the ball back to New York with a chance to tie or win.

Brown had been out since the first half of the Patriots' opening week loss to the Seattle Seahawks, and it's safe to say that they'll need a much better version of him moving forward in order to unlock the best version of themselves.

Still, the vibes in New England are undeniably higher now than they were after the team's troubling 1-2 start, with quarterback Drake Maye rounding back into form after a tough opening act to the season.

In any case, the Patriots will next hit the field on Thursday evening for a tough road game against the Chicago Bears at 8:15 pm ET.
