The Arizona Cardinals have multiple injuries on the roster after defeating the Dallas Cowboys 33-30 in Week 8. Due to the injuries piling up, the team had a spot open on the practice squad. Arizona reportedly used that open space to sign a young tight end who flashed potential in the preseason.

Reports indicate that Rivaldo Fairweather is officially signing to the Cardinals' practice squad, according to Matt Zenits of CBS Sports. Fairweather led the league in receptions during the preseason before ultimately being released by Arizona. He now rejoins the organization going into Week 9.

“The Cardinals are signing tight end Rivaldo Fairweather to their practice squad, sources tell CBS Sports,” Zenitz reported. “Was with Arizona this offseason and led the NFL with 13 catches during the preseason. Now set to return to the team. Before the Cardinals, [he] spent most of his rookie season last year on the Cowboys practice squad.”

Fairweather has yet to play in a regular-season game after going undrafted in the 2025 NFL Draft. He played five years of college football before declaring to go pro. The 24-year-old played three seasons for the Florida International Golden Panthers before transferring and playing two seasons for the Auburn Tigers. He finished his collegiate career with 123 receptions for 1,604 yards and 13 touchdowns.

Now that he's on the Cardinals‘ practice squad, his role with the club remains unclear. He may remain with the team in that role for the remainder of the campaign. But due to the number of injuries on the roster, perhaps there is a chance Rivaldo Fairweather finally makes his NFL debut.

The Cardinals currently have nine players on the IR, while multiple key players are dealing with injuries of their own. Wide receiver Michael Wilson is playing through two broken ribs, and running back Jeremiyah Love sustained another ankle injury that could knock him out for another few games.
