The Philadelphia Eagles have been in a tailspin in recent weeks, currently sitting at 2-6 after a road loss at the hands of the Washington Commanders. The injuries have been piling up on both sides of the ball for Philadelphia, with quarterback Jalen Hurts out for the year due to a scary blood clot issue.

Meanwhile, the players who were on the field for the Eagles in their loss to Washington didn't exactly play great, including Jonathan Greenard on the defensive side of the ball.

“What I see is a guy who’s had very little practice. … He’s had next to none,” said defensive coordinator Vic Fangio, per Jeff McLane of the Inquirer on X, formerly Twitter.

McLane also reported that, “On Jordan Davis’ run defense, Vic Fangio said it hasn’t been what it was the last few games. Said he has a hand thing.”

Indeed, Davis and Greenard haven't been playing well recently, with Greenard battling through injury troubles and Davis now apparently doing the same. The Eagles traded for Greenard this past offseason and then signed him to a lucrative extension, also signing Jordan Davis for the long haul as well in the same time period.

Essentially everything that could have gone wrong has gone wrong for the Eagles up to this point in the season, and while the ineptitude of the NFC East means that their playoff hopes are still alive, it would take a whale of a turnaround to make that a reality.

The Eagles will next hit the field next Sunday at home vs the New York Giants.
