The Montreal Canadiens have had success early in the preseason. This success continued on Monday night. Cole Caufield and his teammates defeated the Ottawa Senators in Saint-Boniface, Quebec, Canada, for Kraft Hockeyville.

Caufield was the star of the show for the Habs in front of a raucous pro-Canadiens crowd. He scored two goals on the night, with the second coming in overtime. Montreal won 3-2 to cap off a celebratory night in Saint-Boniface. After the game, Caufield thanked the fans for their contributions to the game.

“To be able to come here and put on a show for these fans that don't always get to be in the Bell Centre, it's the least we could do,” Caufield said, via NHL.com. “They were very loud and it was very exciting to be here. Getting off the bus this morning and seeing all those fans, it could have made their whole year.”

The Saint-Boniface community showed out on Monday after the community won $250,000 in upgrades to Arena de Saint-Boniface, a local rink. This game was placed at Colisee Videotron, home of the ECHL's Trois-Rivières Lions.

The Senators initially took a 1-0 lead thanks to William Eklund. However, the Canadiens tied it up later on. Ottawa regained its lead thanks to Dylan Cozens. However, two goals from Caufield saw the game end in overtime.

Montreal certainly has a Stanley Cup on its mind this coming season. The Canadiens nearly made the Final last year. Now, they need to take that extra step. Monday's clash was only a preseason affair, but it proved the Habs have an entire province behind them.
