The New York Giants have been linked with the Indianapolis Colts' Jonathan Taylor as they search for another running back ahead of the trade deadline. They have also asked about a certain Baltimore Ravens running back, but it's not Derrick Henry.
As ESPN's Adam Schefter reported, the Ravens are not expected to trade Henry before the deadline. Patricia Traina quote tweeted that report and added that the Giants asked about Henry's teammate Justice Hill.
Hill, 28, has spent seven seasons with the Ravens, and this season is shaping up to be his best one yet. Through nine games, he already has 240 rushing yards, putting him on pace for 453 yards. That would shatter his previous career-high of 387 yards he set in 2023. He's also averaging 7.3 yards per carry, which is far and away a career best.
Hill exploded for 85 yards on just nine carries against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Thursday night. That includes a 65-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter.
The Giants currently have Cam Skateboo as their starting RB. The second-year player has a team-leading 418 yards with two touchdowns through seven games. However, he has had injury concerns as well as fumble issues this season.
Hill is not a workhorse like Taylor or Henry but is more of a change-of-pace back who could provide the Giants backfield a different look. With the Giants in a great position to win the NFC East, Hill would be a potential running back upgrade at a cheaper price compared to what it would cost to get Taylor.
