There has been lingering attention about Cleveland Browns star Jared Verse getting flipped in a game. And Mason McCormick tried to defend his actions. Furthermore, Carson Schwesinger addressed Verse’s frustration after getting body-slammed by McCormick, according to a post on X by Camryn Justice.

“#Browns LB Carson Schwesinger on Jared Verse's comments about being upset that no one came to his defense on the body-slam play: ‘Well, I mean, a lot of times there's a lot of stuff that goes on in the field that you don't see. I mean, you asked me about it after the game, and I still hadn't seen it at that point.

‘So obviously it's something if you see it, you go to his defense. And something that you don't want to see in the game of football at all. And so yeah, like I said, if that's something that I had seen, definitely would've been going to his defense.' ”

That seems like a very reasonable explanation from Schwesinger. We will see if Verse accepts the olive branch.

Browns edge rusher Jared Verse wanted more support

Verse said he expected more from his teammates, according to ESPN.

“The lack of reaction by those around me upset me a lot,” Verse said. “A similar play happened to Derek Barnett on, I think, the next field goal, and I lost it because it was my brothers and my teammates. And when you do something like that to him, it upsets me very deeply.

“That's a conversation that we've had and spoken about. I’ve made my issues known about the situation, but also I didn't put them in a position to let them know beforehand I was going to talk the way I talked to the Steelers and Steelers Nation or whatever they are. I got to be better than that. I didn't do enough on my part. We all got to pick it up.”

Verse was the player sent from the Rams to the Browns in the Myles Garrett blockbuster trade. It’s interesting to note that Verse has the same number of sacks this season as Garrett. The problem for Verse? He’s played in eight games and hasn’t recorded a sack. Garrett played in one game.
