The Milwaukee Brewers are coming off a World Series victory. With the World Series victory, multiple members of the Brewers will be sought after this offseason, from players to coaches to front-office executives.
Now, one of their front-office executives is taking a promotion to head to the Athletics, according to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic.
“The Athletics are hiring Cam Castro away from the World Series champion Milwaukee Brewers as their general manager under new president of baseball operations Taylor Smith, league sources tell The Athletic,” Rosenthal posted on X, formerly Twitter.
Castro was the senior vice president of player development and performance for the Brewers. He will serve as the second-ranking executive with the Athletics, behind newly hired president of baseball operations Taylor Smith.

Before working with the Brewers, he was the head baseball coach for Lake Erie College and was also a minor league pitching coach for the Brewers. He moved up to the director of pitching development before becoming the vice president of player development.
Pitching has been an issue for the Athletics. While the team has developed a large group of position players, such as Nick Kurtz, Tyler Soderstrom, and Zak Gelof, the pitching has not developed at the same rate. Still, the team has multiple young pitchers that could move in the right direction under Castro. Gage Jump, the 23-year-old, made his MLB debut this year. Meanwhile, Luis Morales, Kade Morris, and Braden Nett are all under the age of 25.
