Former MLB player for the Texas Rangers and the New York Yankees Mark Teixeira won a U.S. House seat in Texas at the midterms, beating out Democrat Kristin Hook.
He took to X, formerly Twitter, to thank everyone for their support. Teixeira promised that “nobody will work harder to continue earning” the trust voters instilled in him.
“Tonight’s victory belongs to the people of Texas’s 21st District. I’m not going to Washington for myself, but rather to be a strong, responsive voice for every family in this district,” he promised. “Together, we can build a better future for our families, our neighbors, and every community across Texas 21.
“I’m excited to get to work. I will be praying for all of you and for the future of this great nation. God bless Texas, and God bless America,” Teixeira continued.
Teixeira announced his intentions to run for Congress in Texas in support of President Donald Trump in August 2025. He was eager to return to Texas—where he spent the first five years of his MLB career. He called his time in Texas “one of the greatest blessings in my life.”
