The Milwaukee Brewers are actually doing it. While they technically came into the NLCS as the favorites, they were still up against the most formidable foe in the MLB: the Los Angeles Dodgers. The star-studded team was predicted to give Milwaukee fits in the series… and yet, the latter team is now up 3-0 and are on the brink of making it to the World Series.
There are many reasons for the team's success this postseason. A much-improved hitting group, perfectly complementing their fierce pitching staff. Los Angeles' own struggles at the plate, especially with runners in scoring position. One of the Brewers player's parents is doing his part as well, by using the power of superstitions.
Curt Hogg reports on Jake Bauers' father, Stu's, personal lucky charm that's led to great success.
“In section 106 tonight, a 45-minute drive from home, was a man wearing his lucky Jake Bauers shirt,” Hogg posted on X. “Stu Bauers has worn his son’s t-shirt the last four Brewers games. They are 4-0. It hasn’t been washed yet and at this rate it may never be.”
Bauers is having one hell of a run through the last five postseason games for the Brewers. The star first baseman has recorded a hit in each of his last five games. That includes a two-run blast in Game 3 of the NLCS. With the Dodgers knocking on the door, Bauers kickstarted the Brew Crew's comeback bid with a two-run home run to reclaim the lead. Garrett Mitchell added another solo home run after that to further extend the lead.
The Brewers' relievers were able to finish the job after that, holding the Dodgers scoreless in order to secure the win. Milwaukee is now on the brink of breaking their 44-year World Series appearance drought. Shane Drohan will take the mound in Game 4 for the Brewers, and their hitters will face off against Tyler Glasnow to start the game.
