The Milwaukee Brewers are finally champions. They defeated the Tampa Bay Rays in five games for their first title in franchise history.
While William Contreras won MVP, designated hitter Christian Yelich deserves recognition for speaking the title into existence this summer. For now, Yelich is getting his props from pitcher Brandon Woodruff, per Will Sammon of The Athletic.
On a summer road trip, Yelich told his teammates that they would win it all. Yelich didn't forget that. After they won it on Wednesday, Yelich placed the World Series trophy on a table in the clubhouse, pointed at it, and gave Yelich the credit.
“That right there,” Woodruff said, “‘Yeli’ knew we’d get it.”
Additionally, Yelich held up a newspaper titled “World Champs” and embraced Brewers legend Robin Yount. He then said, “I told you we would do this.”
In the series, Yelich batted .286 with 4 hits and two RBIs. He can also proudly put himself in the same category as Babe Ruth and Joe Namath, who each spoke a big moment into existence.
Ruth supposedly called his shot in Game 3 of the 1932 World Series at Wrigley Field. In 1969, Namath guaranteed the New York Jets a Super Bowl III win over the Baltimore Colts, and they did.

The Brewers made their first trip to the World Series since 1982. They had been poised to sweep the series before losing Game 4 in extra innings, 4-3, on Tuesday.
But victory came at the right time.
