On Wednesday evening, the Milwaukee Brewers won their first World Series championship in franchise history with a comfortable 4-1 road win over the Tampa Bay Rays in Game 5. The Brewers controlled this game throughout the evening, and although the Rays finally got on the board late with a ninth-inning run, they didn't have nearly enough firepower to keep up with a superior Milwaukee team.

Now, ESPN college football insider Kirk Herbstreit has given his congratulations to the Brewers during a recent appearance on “The Pat McAfee Show.”

“I tip my cap to this baseball team and you've gotta appreciate how they play the game.. Skipper Murphy is the kind of guy that you wanna play for,” he said, per Pat McAfee on X, formerly Twitter.

Pat Murphy had garnered some criticism earlier in the series for not sending out ace Jacob Misiorowski to close things out in Game 4, with the team blowing a late lead in that one thanks to a rough outing from the bullpen.

Instead, Misiorowski was named the starter for Game 5, and he performed at an elite level, shutting out the Brewers during his innings of work and allowing the Brewers to coast to an easy win, capturing their first World Series in the process.

The Brewers were the best team in baseball all year in 2026, and that trend continued into the postseason, with Milwaukee losing just two games during their playoff run. In fact, the toughest challenge the Brewers faced was in the NLDS series against the San Diego Padres, as it was mostly smooth sailing from there.

In any case, the Brewers will celebrate their title with a championship parade later this week.
