With Boise State football quarterback Maddux Madsen injured before the Colorado State matchup on Saturday, his status for the contest has been revealed. As Boise State football head coach Spencer Danielson looks to keep the ship afloat, it looks like Madsen won't play in the contest, as there's another update on his long-term status for the Broncos.

Madsen has been dealing with a “minor knee injury,” according to college football insider Pete Thamel of ESPN, who said that while he won't play Saturday against Colorado State, the team expects him back next week against Oregon State.

“Sources: No. 25 Boise State star quarterback Maddux Madsen will miss the game at Colorado State on Saturday. He’s dealing with a minor knee injury. The Boise State staff expects him back to start against Oregon State next week,” Thamel wrote on X, formerly Twitter.

According to Shaun Goodwin, Madsen didn't practice on Thursday, though he was listed as “questionable” for the game.

“Spencer Danielson said this morning that QB Maddux Madsen did not practice today and that he remains questionable. He said the coaching staff still hasn't made a decision on whether he'll start this weekend – but, personally, I wouldn't bank on it,” Goodwin wrote on X.

The knee injury to Boise State football's Maddux Madsen isn't too serious

As Madsen suffered the knee injury for the Boise State football team in last Saturday's 46-45 win over Texas State, the belief that he'll be back next week isn't entirely surprising. Danielson said Monday that Madsen wouldn't be out “long-term.”

“Great news to make sure Maddux is not going to be out long-term,” Danielson said, via 247 Sports. “Going to be day-to-day, which is phenomenal for him and for our program. I think he's one of the best quarterbacks in the entire country.”

“Feel really good that it's not going to be season-ending,” Danielson continued. “We'll find out more, probably in the next 24-to-48 hours, where it's truly at with Maddux for this weekend.”

Max Cutforth looks to lead the Broncos to a win against Colorado State on Saturday evening while Madsen rests up for next week.
