New England Patriots running back TreVeyon Henderson announced on Friday that he was hospitalized due to unexpected neurological symptoms. He currently remains away from the team as he and his Wife ask for prayers and privacy regarding the situation. Head coach Mike Vrabel was asked about what's going on with Henderson, and he provided a heartfelt message for the second-year pro.
Vrabel informed media members that he is going to do whatever he can to support Henderson through this medical circumstance, according to Andrew Callahan of the Boston Herald. The Patriots coach kept his comments concise and hopes nothing but the best for the 24-year-old ball carrier.
“Support him the best way I know how: care for him, listen to him, and do whatever we can to get him healthy and get back to this football team, do what he loves,” Vrabel said about Henderson.
For now, it's not entirely clear what is going on with Henderson. He did say in his official statement that he will be working closely with specialists and physical therapists, and admitted the neurological symptoms affected his strength, conditioning, and some physical functions. The root cause currently remains unknown.
TreVeyon Henderson has appeared in six games this season, his last being in the 30-24 Week 7 loss to the Chicago Bears. His numbers are considerably down in comparison to his rookie year, as the former second-round pick has accumulated just 203 yards and a touchdown off 52 rush attempts this season.
While Henderson focuses on his health and well-being, the Patriots will continue relying on Rhamondre Stevenson in the backfield. Corey Kiner and Lan Larison could also see some playing time moving forward.
