The Portland Trail Blazers have an upcoming deadline to come to terms on an agreement regarding a new contract extension with guard Scoot Henderson. That deadline is Oct. 19, immediately before the start of the regular season. But the Blazers’ stance on their young guard back during last season’s trade deadline could shed some light on their potential plans, as per ClutchPoints’ NBA insider Brett Siegel.
The Blazers reportedly rebuffed multiple trade offers for Scoot Henderson at the deadline, viewing him as a big part of their future plans but not quite at the point where they would give him a contract extension, Siegel reports. The former G League Ignite star is currently in the final season of his rookie scale contract and will hit restricted free agency in the offseason if no extension is reached.
The No. 2 overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft, Henderson has continually shown flashes of the player the Blazers believed they were drafting, but has dealt with injury issues. His 2025-26 season debut was delayed due to a hamstring injury, causing him to be sidelined until February.

He averaged 14.2 points, 2.7 rebounds and 3.7 assists with splits of 41.8 percent shooting from the field, 35.2 percent shooting from the 3-point line and 84 percent shooting from the free-throw line.
Although the Blazers still believe in Henderson as part of their foundation, his spot in the rotation will be impacted by the trade acquisition of Ja Morant and Damian Lillard back to health, as well as the presence of Jrue Holiday.
