The Chicago Bears will have to play the next two games without the services of defensive lineman Montez Sweat. Sweat was suspended by the NFL on Tuesday, for violating the league's performance-enhancing substances policy. Sweat became the butt of some jokes following that news.
“Need to appeal on the grounds that performance was not in fact enhanced,” the X account Barstool Big Cat posted to the social media platform.
There were other accounts that took aim at Sweat, following the news.
“Montez Sweat should sue cause whatever he was on wasn’t working,” the X account MadeinChiTowm posted.
Sweat is a key leader on the Bears defense. He led the team in sacks in 2025, and had posted two sacks already this season. He also has seven total tackles for the team in 2026 while appearing in five games.
Sweat has played with the Bears since 2023. He previously played for the Washington Commanders. During his NFL career, he has appeared in 114 games and recorded 59 career sacks.
It is unclear what happened with Sweat, in regard to this violation.

Players who test positive for anabolic steroids are typically suspended at least six games,” NBC Sports reported.
Chicago is 3-2 on the season. The Bears next play the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday. Sweat will miss that game, along with an upcoming clash with the New England Patriots.
The Bears are already playing without star quarterback Caleb Williams, who has been hurt. Williams is hoping to play in the Falcons game.
