The Golden State Warriors left their preseason game against the Los Angeles Lakers with some good signs from their team, but there are some things they wish they could take back. One of those things was Yaxel Lendeborg suffering an ankle injury in the third quarter, but the good news is that he was able to return to the game.
Lendeborg didn't play in the fourth, and after the game, he shared how he was feeling.
“The ankle feels better. I feel like maybe tomorrow, it's maybe going to hate me a little bit more, but right now I feel good. I'm gonna try to wrap it up in ice before I get on the plane,” Lendeborg said via Joseph Dycus of Mercury News.
There should be a sigh of relief that Lendeborg's injury isn't serious, especially with the way he's been playing in the preseason. He finished with 17 points, five rebounds, four assists and two steals in 26 minutes against the Lakers, and he's showing that he can do about everything on the floor. That's a plus for the Warriors, and he should make an impact immediately for the team when the season starts.
It looks like Lendeborg will be in the starting lineup as well, and with Jimmy Butler still rehabbing from his ACL injury from last season, he could fill a little bit of the void.
Article Continues BelowHead coach Steve Kerr has a lot of belief in Lendeborg, and he believes he can be a real threat when Stephen Curry is on the bench.
“He's very capable of being our lead offensive threat when Steph (Curry) is off the floor. He connects the game beautifully. He makes it easy playing over and over again and looks good shooting the ball. He's a really good player,” Kerr said.
