The Atlanta Braves forced the Philadelphia Phillies into staring at possible early offseason plans. But Philly showed Wednesday it's alive and kicking in these MLB Playoffs. Largely thanks to Andrew Painter, Alec Bohm and company forcing an extra game.
Painter claimed the win on the hill, while Bohm powered a home run in the 4-3 win during this wild card showdown. Now these traditional National League rivals face a winner-take-all rubber match set for Thursday in Atlanta.
The pitcher Painter and hitter Bohm weren't the only stellar performers for a Phillies team with their backs against the wall. Bryce Harper came through and engineered his own power hits.

Bohm, though, delivered a “Bohm Bomb” during the contest. He crushed this go-ahead solo home run during the extra 10th inning to place the Phillies ahead for good.

Bohm punished a four-seam fastball that topped 99 miles per hour in speed. But sent the ball flying 357 feet into the sky before scaling the wall.
Harper's home run arrived during the top of the eighth, with his rip traveling 418 feet toward right center field before falling into the crowd. And that blast tied things up at 3-3, which eventually helped force the extra innings at Truist Park.
The first baseman Bohm delivered two hits total including the homer. He and Harper became the lone Phillies to pound multiple hits. Painter pitched in three innings total, striking out three batters while surrendering three total hits.
The winning team of this NL Wild Card game will face the defending back-to-back World Series champion Los Angeles Dodgers next.
