The Alabama football program is currently gearing up for their upcoming big home game against the number-two ranked Georgia Bulldogs on Saturday evening. The Crimson Tide are riding high after a recent road thrashing of the Mississippi State Bulldogs this past weekend.
On Wednesday, the team got an optimistic injury update on a key member of their offense ahead of the Georgia clash.
“Alabama TE Josh Ford broke his arm against Mississippi State and had surgery on Sunday. Kalen DeBeoer is ‘optimistic' Ford can play this week against Georgia,” reported On3 Sports on X, formerly Twitter.
It would certainly be a Herculean comeback effort from Ford if he were able to take the field no more than seven days after sustaining the fracture.
Ford has been a sizable part of the Crimson Tide's offensive attack this year, which is led by burgeoning star Keelon Russell, who is quickly skyrocketing up Heisman Trophy rankings following his hot start to the season.
However, questions abound about how much the Bulldogs and Crimson Tide will be able to rely on the pass game on Saturday night, given the inclement weather expected to be battering the Tuscaloosa area around the time of the game.
Article Continues BelowSome have even suggested moving the time or venue of the game altogether, although Alabama recently put out a statement clarifying that no plans were in place to change either of those.
If the game is indeed played in a rainstorm, it wouldn't be a surprise to see both teams lean heavily on the run in what could be a low-scoring affair.
In any case, Alabama and Georgia are slated to kick off on Saturday at 7:30 pm ET.
