Arthur Fery rankings prediction made after ahead of £1.8m battle in Wimbledon semi-final

British Wimbledon wildcard star Arthur Fery has been tipped to finish 2026 inside the top 20 in the world.

The 23-year-old beat ninth seed Flavio Cobolli at the All England Club in a dominant, three-set victory on Wednesday to reach the semi-final.

He will face recent French Open champion Alexander Zverev in the final four in Friday.

Fery became only the fifth British man to reach the semi-final at SW19 since the Open era began in 1968, writing his name into history alongside Andy Murray, Tim Henman, Roger Taylor and Cam Norrie.

Additionally, he is one of only four men ever to have reached the semi-final stage as a wildcard.

Arthur’s fortune

The result has currently banked the wildcard an insane £900,000 in prize money, which is more money than he has achieved over his entire career so far.

Should he win, this will jump up to £1.8m at least. The winner of Wimbledon is guaranteed £3.6m.

Prior to the tournament, the youngster was ranked 114th in the world.

He is now set to jump to world No36 in the rankings as a result of his latest win.

However, former British No1 Greg Rusedski has predicted where Fery could climb if he were to beat the German and reach the final.

In his podcast ‘Off Court’, he said: “Health is your wealth. That’s what stopped him in the past. It’s not his tennis game. He was one of the top college players as well, he was number one for Stanford. He’s one of the best in the American college system.

“And he’s finally healthy. It’s having that consistent run week in week out and this will give him immense confidence no matter what happens, whether he wins or loses. If he wins, it’s an even bigger deal because that gets him closer to the top 20 if he makes a major final.

“And he’s got a real shot. When you look at his game, there’s no real weaknesses. We talked about second serve being a problem. He won 66 per cent of second serve points.

“I mean, that number is astonishing. If you’re 50 to 54 plus on second-serve points, that’s outstanding. But 66 is ridiculous. So, it was dominant. He’s improving all the time.

“And if he stays healthy, there’s no reason why by the end of the year he’s not in the top 20 in the world.

Fery’s career progression has been hindered by injuries, notably bone bruising in his arm; however, he has looked unfazed throughout this tournament.

Move over Murray

The French-born Brit has saved Britain’s Lawn Tennis Association from its worst home tournament, following the late withdrawals of Jack Draper and Emma Raducanu on the eve of their first matches.

Additionally, none of Fery’s fellow countrymen managed to make it beyond the second round.

If the underdog was to win against Zverev, it would mean celebrating his 24th birthday playing in the Wimbledon final.

Rusedski further discussed Fery’s chances of winning the entire tournament, adding: “I’ve had multiple practice sessions with him and other players, and every time I walk on court I’m like why isn’t this guy rank higher?

“What is happening? And the only reason is because he wasn’t healthy. He’s had a good run now. He’s been the story of Wimbledon for all the Brits.

“Let’s not forget Jannik Sinner hasn’t won a major this year. The two major winners this year have been Carlos Alcaraz and Zverev.

“This is a fabulous lineup for us. We’ve got the World No1 and 2, Novak Djokovic and a British wildcard.”
