Analyst declares George Pickens best player at Cowboys training camp: ‘It’s not even close’

The Dallas Cowboys entered training camp with multiple stars on both sides of the ball, but analyst and former Cowboys receiver Jesse Holley believes one player clearly separated himself from everyone else.

“It’s not even close,” Jesse Holley said multiple times. “And if either of you don’t say the same thing I’m about to say, you are absolutely lying to yourself. Far and away, the best player in training camp this year was George MF Pickens. Clear far away from the start to the finish. He played with energy, effort, enthusiasm… whatever you needed from him, George Pickens gave it to you.”

Pickens has always possessed the physical talent to become one of the NFL’s most dangerous receivers. His ability to win contested catches and create explosive plays gives Dallas another weapon capable of transforming the offense.

The Cowboys already have one of football’s top receivers in CeeDee Lamb. Adding a fully engaged Pickens alongside him could create matchup problems for every defense Dallas faces. Opponents cannot consistently double-team Lamb if doing so leaves Pickens isolated against a single defender. There is no reason why Pickens should not have an identical season in 2026, even with a healthier Lamb.

Dak Prescott recently spoke about these two star wideouts.

“They truly want the other guy to have just as much success as each of them has individually, and they’re cheering each other on. They just got great personalities; they love to have fun, they love to compete, and I think just if you love the game of football and love to compete, the rest takes care of itself,” Prescott said.
