Amen Thompson shuts down question about Rockets roster changes after Game 6 loss

Houston Rockets’ Amen Thompson pleaded the fifth after Game 6’s 98-78 series-clinching loss to the Los Angeles Lakers. While there have been reports about Kevin Durant’s future with the Rockets due to poor leadership and a failure to compete for a championship, there has also been speculation about Ime Udoka’s job as head coach.

As for the kinds of moves he’d like to see the Rockets make over the summer, Thompson wouldn’t answer a reporter’s question about roster changes ahead of the offseason.

“I’m not gonna answer that, sorry.”

Thompson led the Rockets with 18 points, eight rebounds, three assists, and three blocks. Alperen Sengun added 17 points, 11 rebounds, and two blocks.

Is Rockets’ Ime Udoka on the hot seat?

Rockets head coach Ime Udoka heads into the offseason following a first-round exit against the Lakers. While some are wondering if Udoka’s future as the Rockets’ head coach is in jeopardy, that may not be the case, according to ClutchPoints’ Brett Siegel.

“It doesn’t sound like at all that they were preparing to fire Ime Udoka or make a change. He just signed that big extension, and I believe it’s through the 28-29 season. Could be wrong there. Maybe it’s an extra gear. But he just signed a big extension, and he has a really good working relationship with GM Raphael Stone, so if there is a call to fire Ime Udoka, it’s going to come from the very top. It’s going to come from ownership,” Siegel said.

“If ownership wants to make a change, they will, but I haven’t heard anything that’s going to happen there. We can lump Ime Udoka into a group of head coaches that are still in the playoffs and facing elimination, or could be on the hot seat if their team is eliminated.”

The Lakers will face the Thunder in the Western Conference semifinals.
