Alexander Isak undergoes surgery as Liverpool confirm striker has suffered broken leg
Liverpool have confirmed Alexander Isak has suffered a fibula fracture with the player undergoing successful surgery.
The Swedish striker went down injured immediately after scoring the opening goal during their 2-1 win against Tottenham Hotspur.

Spurs defender Micky van de Ven caught Isak just after the Liverpool forward struck the ball into the back of the net.
The 26-year-old stayed down and was given treatment on his left leg on the pitch, but was unable to continue for the rest of the match.
And he now faces a spell on the sidelines having went under the knife.
Liverpool have failed to give a timeframe on when the player will be back in action.
Isak blow
A club statement on Monday night read: “Alexander Isak today successfully underwent surgery on the injury he sustained on Saturday.
“The Liverpool striker was injured in a challenge in the process of scoring the opening goal against Tottenham Hotspur and had to be substituted.
“After diagnosis, an operation was completed today on an ankle injury that included a fibula fracture.
“Isak’s rehabilitation will now continue at the AXA Training Centre, with no timeframe yet placed on his return.”
Isak started from the bench in Saturday night’s 2-1 victory away at Spurs.
And it didn’t take him long to get on the score sheet after replacing Conor Bradley at the start of the second half.

He smashed into the bottom left corner after being picked out by Florian Wirtz in the 56th minute.
It was his third goal in 16 appearances this season following his British record £125million move from Newcastle.
Reds resurgence
Victory at Spurs saw Liverpool extend their unbeaten run to six in all competitions.
It was their third consecutive win and marks continued improvement from their dismal form earlier in the campaign.
Isak also scored for the second time in five Premier League matches.
But further contributions will have to wait as his Liverpool struggles took another hit.

A lack of match fitness at the beginning of the season meant he had to wait until September 17 to make his debut.
Isak later missed four further matches through abductor pain.
Liverpool are now dealing with a lack of options in attack following their weekend win.
Mohamed Salah has joined Egypt for the Africa Cup of Nations and will be unavailable until late January should they reach the final.
Cody Gakpo also missed the victory over Spurs through a muscle injury.
Liverpool welcome Premier League strugglers Wolves at Anfield on December 27 in their next match before entertaining Leeds United on New Year’s Day.
