Adam Azim vs Steve Claggett: Date, start time, and where to watch bright British prospect

Adam Azim looks to take one step closer to a world title this weekend.

The promising Brit faces Canada’s Steve Claggett in a decent step-up fight in the English capital.

Claggett (40-8-2) saw his stock rise considerably after a spirited display against Teofimo Lopez for the WBO super lightweight title in June 2024.

While he was ultimately beaten on points, Claggett never stopped pushing the pace and made Lopez work hard for the win.

Since then, the 36-year-old has won two fights on the bounce against unheralded opposition.

He now has the opportunity to put himself back into title contention if he can pull off an upset over Azim, who is ranked by three of the four major sanctioning bodies at super lightweight.

Those in the know are tipping Azim to reach the very top of the sport.

But he will have to get past fringe contenders like Claggett if he hopes to realise his full potential.

Azim (14-0) last fought in November when he scored a last-gasp stoppage victory over Kurt Scoby on the Chris Eubank Jr vs Conor Benn II undercard.

Prior to the Scoby fight, Azim blew away former IBF super lightweight champion Sergey Lipinets inside nine rounds in his best win to date.

Azim is set to square off against Claggett on Saturday, May 30, over 12 rounds at London’s Wembley Arena.

The prelims will be streamed on BBC iPlayer from 6pm UK time (1pm Eastern Time, 12pm Central Time) before the action crosses over to BBC Two at 8.30pm (3.30pm Eastern Time, 2.30pm Central Time).

Azim and Claggett will make their way to the ring at around 9pm UK time (4pm Eastern Time, 3pm Central Time).
