Aaron Rodgers announces post- retirement decision after being lined up for Tom Brady-esque role
Aaron Rodgers and Tom Brady dominated the NFL for decades, but their post-retirement paths won’t be similar.
Since retiring, Brady has continued to be involved with the sport, becoming a minority owner of the Las Vegas Raiders, and signing a $375 million contract with FOX.

The seven-time Super Bowl champion is set to commentate on NFL games for years to come, while juggling the responsibilities of ownership.
As for Rodgers, whose decision still looms, dropped a major hint at his post-retirement plans which could indicate a choice isn’t far away.
In an appearance on The Pat McAfee show, Rodgers revealed he doesn’t plan on turning to broadcasting when he calls it quits.
“When this is done, it’s Kyeser Soze, and you won’t see me,” Rodgers told McAfee.
“You won’t see me. I’m not doing TV… I am not going to be out and about.”
The Athletic’s Andrew Marchand had previously tipped Rodgers to replace Tony Dungy, who was let go by NBC last week.
But it would appear the four-time MVP would prefer riding off into the sunset and stepping away from the sport entirely.
Rodgers opens up on Mike McCarthy hire
But for now, no official decision on his future has been made. Rodgers often leaves it late, evidenced by the fact he signed for the Pittsburgh Steelers in June last year.
After Pittsburgh’s disappointing exit from the 2025 NFL playoffs, many expected that Rodgers would call it a day.
But there has been a changing of the guard, something which might tempt Rodgers to run it back for one more year.

Mike Tomlin stepped down as Steelers head coach after 19 years at the helm, and his replacement was Pittsburgh-native, and former Green Bay Packers head coach Mike McCarthy.
The move was not well perceived by fans, but Rodgers told McAfee that the new head coach is one of his favorite people in the NFL.
“Mike’s one of the great guys in the league,” Rodgers said.
“Just an absolutely exceptional human being with a huge heart, we had lots of great years together, a lot of fun.
“I loved my time with Mike. There are ties where like a big brother, sometimes you love him, sometimes you’re pissed at him.
“But deep down, there’s so much love for Mike, and appreciation for the time we spent together.”

McCarthy coached the Packers for 13 seasons, and Rodgers was his quarterback for all of them.
Despite the high-end endorsements for his head coach, Rodgers was quick to say his appearance on the McAfee show was not to make an announcement on his NFL future.
“Anybody on here who is expecting me to make a big decision, just shut off, turn it off now,” he added.
Rodgers will be taking time to make his decision, and McCarthy will wait to see if his former quarterback wants to run it back for one more year in Pittsburgh.
