The Denver Nuggets dropped Game 2 at home against the Minnesota Timberwolves, and many are predicting this series will go the distance once again. But the rivalry got a little bit of a jumpstart after the Wolves win thanks to Jaden McDaniels.

After trailing by as many as 19 points in the game, the Timberwolves came back to defeat the Nuggets, 119-114. Anthony Edwards led the way with 30 points and 10 rebounds while Julius Randle added 24 points, nine rebounds, and six assists.

Jaden McDaniels, who finished with 14 points in 37 minutes of play, made headlines after the game for calling the entire Denver Nuggets team bad defenders.

“Go at [Nikola] Jokic, Jamal [Murray], all the bad defenders,” McDaniels told reporters when asked about the mindset shift in Game 2. “Tim Hardaway Jr., Cam Johnson, Aaron Gordon, their whole team. Just go at them. Yeah, they’re all bad defenders.

“They don’t have people who can defend the rim. If they have, we’re still more athletic than they are. We’ve just got to be able to finish what we do.”

Members of the Nuggets were asked about those comments, including starting forward and one of the better defenders on the team: Aaron Gordon.

After countless playoff battles across his now sixth season in Denver, Gordon didn’t have much to say.

“I don’t know if you’ve seen or paid attention to it, but Minnesota seems to be talking a lot of smack,” the reporter started. “Jaden McDaniels specifically. Are you hearing any of that? Are you paying attention to that at all?”

“Brother, I don’t care,” Aaron Gordon replied with a small small on his face.

So far in this series, Aaron Gordon dropped 17 points and eight rebounds in a Game 1 victory, but struggled in Game 2 with just eight points and seven rebounds on 3-of-9 from the field.

Jaden McDaniels, meanwhile, has had a strong scoring start to this series, averaging 15 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 3.3 rebounds thus far, but has missed all seven of his three-point shot attempts

The series will now shift to Minneapolis, Minnesota for Game 3 between the Timberwolves and Denver Nuggets. Game 3 is set to take place on Thursday night at 6:30PM PST.

Entering this postseason, teams that win Game 3 of a 1-1 best-of-seven series go on to win the series 73.7 percent of the time. Additionally, teams that lead a best-of-seven series 2-1 go on to win the series 78.9 percent of the time.
