5-star CB drops LSU visit amid Michigan interest
Lane Kiffin and the LSU Tigers are busy scheduling visits with prospects. After initially landing a visit with five-star cornerback Joshua Dobson, the Tigers will no longer conduct the visit after the Michigan Wolverines swooped in for a visit of their own.
Reports indicate that Dobson, who is the No. 6 overall recruit for the 2027 class on the Rivals300, turned down his visit with LSU to instead visit Michigan on June 11-13, according to Hayes Fawcett of Rivals and On3 Sports. Although the Tigers are considered a top-two choice for Dobson, he’ll be meeting with the Wolverines and head coach Kyle Whittingham instead.
“NEWS: Five-Star CB Joshua Dobson will no longer take an official visit to LSU, he tells me for Rivals,” reported Fawcett. “He’ll now visit Michigan instead (June 11-13). Dobson is ranked as the No. 6 Recruit in the 2027 Rivals300.”
Dobson is a 6-foot-1 cornerback who is currently attending William Amos Hough High School in Cornelius, North Carolina. Texas A&M, LSU, South Carolina, Auburn, and Clemson are considered his top-five schools right now. But Michigan getting an official visit with Dobson suggests the Wolverines could jump up his rankings.
Although Joshua Dobson is no longer visiting with the Tigers, LSU is still doing well in recruiting for the 2027 class. Lane Kiffin and the program have landed one five-star already in tight end Ahmad Hudson. That’s on top of four other four-star commitments made for the class.
While the program remains focused on recruiting, Kiffin will ensure his team is ready for the 2026-27 campaign. LSU will begin the season with a home-opener in Week 1 in a “College GameDay” matchup against Dabo Swinney and the Clemson Tigers.
