3. Saransh Jain

Saransh Jain's maiden India call-up has been one of the biggest talking points ahead of the Sri Lanka tour. The 33-year-old Madhya Pradesh all-rounder has finally been rewarded for years of consistent performances in domestic cricket.

A right-arm off-spinner who bats left-handed, Jain adds depth with both bat and ball and was drafted into the squad after Washington Sundar was ruled out due to injury. However, his place appears to be directly linked to Sundar's availability.

If Sundar regains full fitness after the Sri Lanka series, the selectors are expected to bring him back into the squad. That could leave Jain fighting for a spot despite making his long-awaited international breakthrough.

2. Auqib Nabi

Auqib Nabi's maiden Test call-up is a landmark moment for both him and Jammu and Kashmir cricket. The right-arm pacer earned his place after a sensational domestic season, taking 60 wickets in the 2025-26 Ranji Trophy while also impressing for India A during the recent shadow tour of the island nation.

However, Nabi's inclusion has largely come because of Jasprit Bumrah's injury. With Mohammed Siraj expected to lead the pace attack, Nabi has a valuable opportunity to showcase his abilities if he gets a chance in the playing XI.
