Las Vegas is out to cement its status as a sports hub with two state-of-the-art arenas right on the world-famous strip.

Starr Vegas Development is putting forward its vision for a $10bn sports and entertainment hub.

It includes a 50,000-seat soccer stadium and basketball arena with room for 25,000 fans.

A 63-acre site has been identified near Las Vegas Boulevard and Starr Avenue with the Major League Soccer venue, which will also be decked out for music events, the focal point.

Everything you would expect from a Vegas arena is present under a covered roof with views of the Strip, VIP suites and state-of-the art audio and visual technology.

In addition, 30 broadcast-grade 4K cameras will allow the action to be captured and beamed around the world.

The basketball arena will also be able to accommodate concerts, as well as ice hockey and combat sports.

“Starr Vegas will redefine what a sports and entertainment destination should be,” said Starr Vegas Development chief executive Chuck Haifley.

“Our prime Strip location, integrated broadcast infrastructure, and multi-venue synergies create unmatched opportunities.

“We are building world-class facilities for soccer, basketball, concerts, combat sports, and more, the future home of professional sports in Las Vegas.”

The development would be the next step in bringing the MLS and NBA to a city that already boasts and NFL and NHL team, with MLB following in 2028.

The Las Vegas Lights currently play in the USL Championship, but a new stadium would boost the case for top-tier soccer.

Sin City and Seattle have already landed a boost with the NBA exploring expansion options in both cities.

“Today’s vote reflects our Board’s interest in exploring potential expansion to Las Vegas and Seattle – two markets with a long history of support for NBA basketball,” said NBA Commissioner Adam Silver.

“We look forward to taking this next step and engaging with interested parties.”

Being Vegas, a sportsbook, casino and hotels are included in the proposal.

There will also be an amphitheatre, as well as retail, residential and office spaces.

Per Front Office Sports, Starr Vegas Development has secured $6 billion through a financing structure with Lou Weisbach — the chief executive of In Tickets We Trust.
