Jurrien Timber’s brother Quinten could join Premier League club in late move

Quinten Timber’s hopes of a dream Premier League switch hinge on the final hours of the transfer window.

The Marseille midfielder could join Crystal Palace but the Eagles are against the clock to get the deal done before the deadline.

Should Palace get the deal over the line, it would see him join Arsenal full-back and twin brother Jurrien in English football.

Timber has been tipped for a move to the Premier League since his brother’s move to the Emirates Stadium three years ago.

The Dutchman, who impressed for the Ligue 1 giants last season, is the subject of a £17million bid from Palace.

The south London club were not the only possible suitors this summer with FC Porto and Aston Villa have also been credited with an interest in him.

The Netherlands international arrived at Marseille in January following a three-and-a-half year spell with Feyenoord.

However, due to the club’s tumultuous financial situation, Marseille need to offload their saleable assets to balance the books.

Marseille have already offloaded former Arsenal and Chelsea striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

They were also forced to sell ex-Manchester United forward Mason Greenwood to Turkish giants Fenerbahce.

Marseille boss Manager Bruno Genesio made clear his intention to hold onto Timber and it appears that he is not going to get his wish. 

Long-standing interest

The 25-year-old first attracted interest from Manchester United, Liverpool and Tottenham back in 2023.

But a move to the Premier League failed to materialise prior to his move to the Stade Velodrome.

He clocked up 15 appearances for Marseille, helping the club to a fifth-placed finish in Ligue 1.

Despite swapping his homeland for Ligue 1 midway through the season, Timber was included in the Netherlands squad for the World Cup.

But his hopes of accompanying his brother in the squad this summer were dashed when Jurrien withdrew from the squad through injury just days before the tournament.

Timber is now expected to leave cash-strapped Marseille either on Tuesday night or January at the earliest.

He was handed his first start of the season in Sunday’s 2-0 defeat at Ligue 1 leaders Monaco.
