Zohran Mamdani sounds off on Donald Trump getting booed by Knicks fans, Victor Wembanyama after Game 3
When President Donald Trump made his way to Madison Square Garden for Game 3 of the NBA Finals, he was booed by New York Knicks fans, and NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani diplomatically toed the line while discussing it.
Speaking to L’Équipe (via NBA Base) about Trump being booed, the mayor said he would “welcome anyone who is there to support the Knicks,” and all New Yorkers are united in their hopes for a championship.
“I think he was there to support the Knicks. I will welcome anyone who is there to support the Knicks. Every New Yorker wants the same thing. We want a championship title.
Conversely, he doesn’t understand how some could not like the San Antonio Spurs’ Victor Wembanyama. He called him a “very difficult player to hate,” but he knows New Yorkers still “find ways.”
“He’s a very difficult player to hate, even though we find ways,” he said, laughing. “He has a lot of talent, both on and off the court, but we hope he doesn’t show it too much during this Final.”
Will Zohran Mamdani be at the Knicks’ Game 4 of the NBA Finals?

It’s unknown if Mamdani plans on attending Game 4 of the NBA Finals at the Garden. He paid nearly $1,000 for a ticket to Game 3. Meanwhile, President Trump sat in a suite with James Dolan.
Either way, he’ll likely be watching the game as a diehard Knicks fan. They are hosting the Spurs for the second game in a row after losing Game 3. Since the Spurs won the last contest, Game 5 will be necessary, and it will be played in San Antonio.
Mamdani is just a few months into his first term as the mayor of NYC. He is the 112th mayor of New York City, and he previously served as a member of the State Assembly for the 36th district. He represented Astoria, Queens.
