Yankees’ Aaron Judge reaches games played milestone with more homers than every player ever

After New York Yankees star Aaron Judge made history, he thanked the fans who stayed through the rain delay. And Judge also added another notch to his impressive career, according to a post on X by Sarah Langs.

“Aaron Judge plays his 1,200th career game today

Most home runs in first 1,200 career games:

Aaron Judge: 385
Ralph Kiner: 327
Juan Gonzalez: 326
Mark McGwire: 322

Judge hit No. 385 in game 1,198
The next-fewest games to 385 HR is 1,379 by Mark McGwire”

Good stuff for one of baseball’s best players.

Yankees OF Aaron Judge still on top of his game

Judge was mired in a slump until his walk-off home run. But manager Aaron Boone took things in stride, according to a post on X by SNY Yankees.

“Just going through it a little bit right now,” he said. “Usually that means good things are coming on the other side. He’ll get through it, and somebody will pay the price real soon.”

And they did.

The main thing about Judge is that he’s still on a great pace. He could reach the 50-homer mark again. That’s something he has accomplished four times. Nobody in MLB history has done it five times, according to MLB.com.

“Henry Aaron, for decades the all-time home run king, never had a 50-homer season,” Mike Petriello wrote. “Barry Bonds, who usurped him atop the all-time leaderboard, did it just a single time. It’s happened only 54 times in total, by 34 players. Most of them did it just once; a handful, twice; and then Alex Rodriguez is the only one to do so exactly three times.

“Judge, at the moment, stands as one of the very few to have four. It might not be a tie for very long.”

On the short list are Judge, Babe Ruth, Sammy Sosa, and Mark McGwire.

Another good thing for the Yankees and Judge is that they are in the thick of the AL playoff chase. They’ve both cooled off a little, but there are plenty of reasons to believe both will get back on a heater. Sooner as opposed to later.
