WWE’s Chelsea Green ‘upset’ by broken orbital bone injury that brought her to emergency room

Following the shocking WWE Women’s Championship win by Chelsea Green, the former two-time Women’s United States Champion suffered another devastating injury — this time a broken orbital bone that resulted in an emergency room visit.

Green suffered an injury during the Aug. 7, 2026, edition of Friday Night SmackDown in her first match as Women’s Champion. She teamed up with Tiffany Stratton to take on Fatal Influence’s Fallon Henley and Lainey Reid.

At one point, she broke her orbital bone less than a week into her reign. She took to Instagram to talk about the injury, which she called “frustrating.”

“I was trying to keep this kind of private, but the internet knows everything, so I thought I’d come on here and clear things up. I did get injured last night… stuff happens. It’s live television. it’s wrestling; it’s an occupational hazard,” she acknowledged. “I ended up in the emergency room, and I have a broken orbital bone. It looks amazing, all things considered. It feels awful, but it looks pretty amazing.”

Green conceded that she was unsure of what the injury means for her future. After all, she won the interim Women’s Championship for another injured star, Rhea Ripley.

Usually, she “plays into every single injury,” but this one “feels different.” So, Green is uncertain about her future, but she isn’t surprised that this happened to her.

“I feel like if I didn’t have bad luck I’d have no luck at all,” she quipped. “So, I just need to take a little bit more time to process and to kind of heal the head trauma that is going on right now. And then we’ll see what happens. We’re just gonna take it day by day.”

Suffice it to say, the injury couldn’t have happened at a worse time. Green just won her first world championship at SummerSlam, defeating the likes of Charlotte Flair, Jade Cargill, and Stratton in a ladder match to become Women’s Champion. Ripley needed to get surgery, which means Green’s interim reign would’ve likely become a proper reign. We’ll see how WWE handles her injury.
