White Sox announce 2 roster moves ahead of Diamondbacks clash

The Chicago White Sox and Arizona Diamondbacks meet for the series finale in Phoenix in just over two hours. This series finale will be a rubber match, as Chicago won Game 1 and the D-backs took the second.

It’s been a high-scoring series so far as both teams have already scored at least 16 runs in the two games. There have been 34 runs scored altogether, and Game 3 will likely showcase the same vibe. However, both starting pitchers have pitched very well to begin the season. Chicago’s Davis Martin is 3-1 with a 2.16 ERA, while Michael Soroka is 4-0 with a 2.78 ERA.

Ahead of the finale on this NFL Draft Thursday, the White Sox have made two roster transactions. The team is calling up right-handed pitcher Tyler Davis from Triple-A Charlotte. As a result of this move, Lucas Sims has been designated for assignment. Sims will hit the waiver wire, and teams will attempt to claim him. If he goes unclaimed, he will return to the minor leagues, likely Charlotte. The 31-year-old reliever has appeared in nine games this season with a 4.50 ERA, 1.60 WHIP, and has 10 strikeouts in 10.0 innings. Sims has had a lengthy career, playing for the Atlanta Braves, Cincinnati Reds, Boston Red Sox, and Washington Nationals.

Tyler Davis was actually off to a rough start in Charlotte; however, the hope is that he can figure things out in the bigs. In six games in 2026, Davis owned a 4.91 ERA, 1.09 WHIP, and .200 OBA, with only seven strikeouts in 7.1 innings. Davis was one for one in save opportunities.

The White Sox aim for the series win, and Munetaka Murakami and his home runs don’t seem to end any time soon. Chicago has a new star in town.
