Watch Lakers’ Luka Doncic receive 2025-26 NBA scoring title trophy

The Los Angeles Lakers looked to take a 2-0 lead as they hosted the Houston Rockets in Game 2 of their first-round clash at Crypto.com Arena on Tuesday.

Like in Game 1, Lakers superstar Luka Doncic was on hand to cheer for his teammates. He is still recovering from a hamstring injury.

A few minutes before the tip-off, Doncic received the trophies for the scoring title and Western Conference Player of the Month for March. They were handed to him by Lakers vice president of basketball operations and general manager Rob Pelinka, as shown in the video posted by ESPN reporter Dave McMenamin.

Doncic was not named among the finalists for MVP despite winning his appeal to the NBA regarding his eligibility for individual awards.

The 26-year-old guard won his second scoring title after averaging 33.5 points. He shot 47.6% from the field, including 36.6% from three-point territory. He also logged 7.7 rebounds, 8.3 assists, and 1.6 steals.

He beat Oklahoma City Thunder guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (31.1 points), Minnesota Timberwolves guard Anthony Edwards (28.8 points), Boston Celtics guard Jaylen Brown (28.7 points), and Philadelphia 76ers guard Tyrese Maxey (28.3) for the scoring crown.

Doncic won his first scoring trophy in the 2023-2024 season, averaging a career-best 33.9 points with the Dallas Mavericks.

He recently underwent an advanced treatment in Spain to expedite his return. Lakers coach JJ Redick has stated that Doncic and Austin Reaves, who is nursing an oblique injury, remain out indefinitely.

As of writing, the Lakers are leading the Rockets by double digits in the second quarter. Marcus Smart has 17 points, two rebounds, and three assists, while LeBron James has 12 points, six rebounds, and two assists.
