Warriors’ Steve Kerr gives Kristaps Porzingis injury update after missing Kings game

The Golden State Warriors narrowly escaped with a win over the Sacramento Kings on Tuesday night, taking a 110-105 victory at home against a ragtag and tanking Kings squad. Golden State has nothing to play for anymore in terms of seeding, as they are locked into the 10th spot considering that they’re three games behind the Portland Trail Blazers in the win-loss column with three games to go in the regular season (Portland won the season series, 3-1).

The main thing the Warriors will be prioritizing to end the regular season is health; Stephen Curry only recently returned from a 27-game absence due to persistent knee troubles, while Kristaps Porzingis had to miss their Tuesday night contest due to knee troubles of his own.

Nonetheless, it doesn’t seem as though the injury that kept Porzingis out of action on Tuesday is anything to worry about long-term. As per Warriors head coach Steve Kerr, via Sam Gordon of the San Francisco Chronicle, he doesn’t believe as though Porzingis’ knee injury is anything “serious”.

The Warriors’ chances of making it to the playoffs via the play-in tournament were already slim to begin with. They will need to win two games on the road just to earn the eighth-seed. But if Curry and Porzingis were to be fully healthy, anything can certainly happen in a do-or-die setting.

The end is almost here for the Stephen Curry-led Warriors

The Warriors had a slim chance of competing for the Larry O’Brien trophy prior to the start of the 2025-26 season. They looked like a serious contending team last year when they brought Jimmy Butler in, but Butler proceeded to tear his ACL earlier in the season, slamming the team’s contending window shut.

The move for Porzingis was a Hail Mary heave, but one thing’s for sure: the end is near for the Curry-led Warriors.
