Underdog Patriots have history on their side, Michael Irvin drops in and talkSPORT take to the season
The time for talking is almost over.
Kick off in Super Bowl LX is just over 24 hours away, and that means the two teams challenging for the Lombardi Trophy have stepped out of the manic media spotlight, and into their private pre-game bubbles.

It won’t be long now until the champion is crowned, so who ya got — the New England Patriots, or the Seattle Seahawks?
While the two teams have been turning their full focus to the practice field in recent days, plenty of NFL legends were still roaming around on radio row.
‘Devastating’ NFL wideouts giving Michael Irvin run for his money
Three-time Super Bowl champ Michael Irvin was more than happy to stop by for a chat.
The Hall of Famer told talkSPORT his former team, the Dallas Cowboys, can be contenders next year if they keep hold of George Pickens.

He also ranked the top five wideouts in the NFL today — and noted that Seahawks star Cooper Kupp is setting the bar.
“Cooper Kupp went off man,” Irvin began.
“Now, you see, you’ve got Justin Jefferson, Ja’Marr Chase, Puka Nacua and JSN (Jaxson Smith-Njigba).
“All four of those guys now… they are the Cooper Kupp of their offense.
“They all run the same offense, and they put those guys in the position to win.
“Those four guys are the top receivers in the NFL, and I’d throw CeeDee Lamb in there too… they are devastatingly incredible.”
They all know how to beat you man-to-man, but they also have a system that beats you.”
Finally, the Golden Gate Bridge
The week has been intense, and we might have mentioned there has been plenty going on, and no shortage of bus trips (yes, we are boring ourselves with that).
But after four days up and down the freeway, it’s time to slightly take the foot off the pedal. With stories written — see our exclusives on $180 burgers and the Josh McDaniels effect — and prep done on Mike Vrabel and Nick Emmanwori features on the way, it’s time to see San Francisco.
Alcatraz, the Golden Gate Bridge, Fisherman’s Wharf… it was a really breathtaking way to finally take a second to breathe after an intense week.
It’s an incredible city, that has done an incredible job of hosting the 2026 Super Bowl.
San Fran is ready, talkSPORT is ready, it’s time to play ball.
All aboard on the Pacific Coast
Doubt the Patriots and they win Super Bowls, writes Brian T. Smith.
That was the case in 2001, when Tom Brady, Mike Vrabel, Bill Belichick and Adam Vinatieri stunned the world by knocking off the Greatest Show on Turf with a 20-17 victory over the Los Angeles Rams in Super Bowl XXXVI.
And that was the case in 2016, when Brady, Belichick and Co. overcame a 28-3 deficit to beat the Atlanta Falcons during a historic overtime thriller in Super Bowl LI.
Current New England corner back Carlton Davis was a member of Brady’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2020, when Patrick Mahomes and Kansas City were favored but the Bucs thumped the Chiefs 31-9 in the big game.

“Having Tom, having a great quarterback, that that gives you a lot of confidence,” Davis exclusively told talkSPORT this week. “Even when he signed, it gave us the belief that we can make it there.”
While most experts and fans are picking Seattle on Sunday, Davis said a similar belief has New England embracing the outside doubt — in a good way.
Patriots just win Super Bowls
These Patriots believe in themselves and they’re comfortable being the underdogs in Super Bowl LX.
“This team, we like being the underdogs and keep that chip on our shoulder,” Davis said. “It’s been that way this whole season and even in the playoffs. It’s been that way every game.

“Everybody has picked against us. So it’s nothing new for us, man. We’re just going to go out there, do what we do, continue to be the Patriots.”
