Tunisia vs Japan prediction

Japan are comfortably the favourites here and it’s no surprise after Tunisia were demolished 5-1 by Sweden on Monday June 15.

Japan have been considered one of the few dark horses of the competition being tipped often to reach the latter stages of the knockouts.

Tunisia boss Sabri Lamouchi was sacked right after that defeat and it leaves them open to another dismantling at the hands of the Japan squad.

Tunisia also lot both friendly games prior to the World Cup losing 5-0 to Belgium and 1-0 to Austria and in both of those games there was a red card.

Could that be an omen of things to come in this game? Lots of cards and goals?

Tunisia vs Japan betting tips

Japan clear ahead

Japan opened their account in Group F with a well-fought draw against the Netherlands.

Many wouldn’t have expected them to come away with something there but with a 2-2 draw it was a fantastic game to watch as a neutral.

This game should be more one sided though, as Japan can be lethal in attack and don’t lack imagination when going forward.

They managed to out-strength on numerous occasions the large physical presence of the Netherlands side and are likely to come up against easier defences here.

With Tunisia conceding ten goals in their last two games in all competitions, and Japan managing to score twice against a decent defence, this could be another drumming.

A long road ahead for Tunisia

Usually there’s a ‘new manager bounce’ following the dismissal of a manager and a new one taking over seeing an upturn in form, if just for a brief period.

But in the World Cup, when the team was specifically selected by the previous manager it may be difficult for Tunisia to turn that around.

The confidence will be low and this Japan side are incredibly good at getting results.

They beat Scotland and England in their friendlies in the spring, before beating Iceland in their one summer prep match for the World Cup.

Both goals last time out came from midfielders Keito Nakamura and Daichi Kamada.

Here there may be more opportunities for their forwards to get involved; Ayase Ueda, Takefusa Kubo and Daizen Maeda.
