Travis Kelce’s ‘pathetic’ post game silence called out as Chiefs star reveals players are turning to fight club

Travis Kelce has been slammed for his ‘childish’ decision to skip post-game media availability after the Chiefs lost on Sunday.

Kansas City was beaten 20-10 by the Houston Texans in a primetime game, and dropped to 6-7 on the 2025 NFL season.

Legendary tight end Kelce, who has been nominated for a prestigious award, had a night to forget and caught just one of five targets for eight yards at Arrowhead.

He was not on the same page as quarterback Patrick Mahomes, and another defeat means the once all-conquering dynasty could be set to miss out on the playoffs for the first time since 2014.

But instead of coming out to face the music post game, or even just discuss what went wrong against Houston, veteran Kelce rejected multiple interview requests from reporters.

Under NFL rules, all players (except those in the concussion protocol) are required to speak after every game.

Sunday was not the first time Kelce had declined to speak this year, and Pete Mundo of KCMO Talk Radio has had enough.

Taking to social media, he unleashed a scathing rant about No. 87.

Kansas City radio host slams Travis Kelce for refusing interviews

“Is ANYONE else in KC media going to call out Travis Kelce for consistently NOT talking with the media after losses this season?” Mundo asked on X.

“I respect the hell out of his career, but it’s completely childish and lacking leadership that he has continued to get away with this.

“Two weeks ago, we get his Mahomes ‘Kermit the Frog’ impression after they beat the Colts.

“They win, he’s in a good mood, he’ll talk. But once again, after his worst game of the season, and with the season on the brink, he can’t give a few basic quotes?

“Something as simple as, ‘We’ve gotta play better’ or ‘We won’t give up on the season?’ That’s IT!

“That’s what leaders on teams do. They don’t sulk. They don’t avoid the media consistently after bad games. The rest of the guys are answering questions.

“But Travis Kelce, the biggest celebrity on the team, a 13-year NFL veteran and one of the highest-paid players on the team skips out?”

Mundo’s comments quickly gained traction online, with one follower suggesting Kelce was probably holding his tongue to address the situation on his popular New Heights podcast.

That idea, though, doesn’t sit well with the KC radio host.

“Pathetic. So he can answer his brother’s softball questions on the podcast? Weak,” Mundo suggested.

While Kelce has been taking flak for his apparent silence in the locker room, one of his Chiefs teammates has been praised for revealing how the defense sometimes settle arguments after games and practice.

Kansas City DB reveals how teammates deal with locker room ‘beef’

Recording a video from his locker, cornerback Nazeeh Johnson explained how some players will box each other to squash any beef.

“Hey, do y’all want to see how anybody on the defense settles beef? We’ve got these right here,” Johnson said, showing his followers the gloves.

“People put them on, get like two, three minutes in there, and you’re good. Everything is out of the way. This is how we settle the beef in the DB room.

Johnson’s admission stunned plenty of fans, with many suggesting that boxing is a good way to settle any arguments that crop up.

“I like it. It’s better than cheap shots and brawls,” one said.

“That’s how every Kansan settles beef,” another joked.

“I support this,” a third said.

“This was how beef was settled when I was a kid too… It wasn’t a spectator sport. It was only the two boys scrapping involved. It worked,” a fourth concluded.

Others, though, argued that boxing adds another layer to an already physical sport.

“Sure, more blows to the head. What could go wrong?” one asked.

“Maybe he should worry more about making the playoffs and less about his fake tough guy image,” another said of Johnson.

“NFL players are really just big a** children,” a third concluded.

Kelce said nothing in the wake of Kansas City’s loss. Johnson, perhaps, might have said too much about how locker room beef is settled.
