Tottenham Hotspur vs West Ham United predictions and betting tips – Huge London derby awaits

Supporters of Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United have not had much to cheer about in recent weeks, with both teams struggling for form.

Thomas Frank and Nuno Espirito Santo are duly under pressure and a defeat for either manager on Saturday could bring their tenure to an end. Which way will this one go?

When they shake hands on the touchline on Saturday afternoon, Thomas Frank and Nuno Espirito Santo will have an idea of what the other is going through.

We have seen Enzo Maresca and Ruben Amorim lose their jobs in the first fortnight of 2026, and Nuno and Frank are the two favourites to be handed their P45s next.

It is not an exaggeration to say there is a good chance the loser of this weekend’s match will find themselves out of work a few days later.

Frank has yet to win over the Tottenham fan base and it is increasingly hard to see him ever doing so.

It is not just that results have been poor – and they have. Spurs head into this London derby in 14th place having won only two of their last 12 Premier League matches.

Frank’s style is also problematic. Tottenham fans want to see their team play attacking, front-foot football. Most of the fare they have served up this term has fallen well short of that mark.

Nuno’s position is even more precarious. After a 2-1 home defeat by Nottingham Forest in their last Premier League assignment, West Ham United slipped seven points shy of safety.

Many of West Ham’s issues predate Nuno’s appointment in late September. At the same time, the former Forest manager has had little impact over the last three and a half months.

Had the season begun when Nuno was handed the reins at the London Stadium, West Ham would still be 18th. Recent reports suggest several players in the dressing room have lost faith in Nuno’s ability to get the Hammers out of trouble.

West Ham did at least stop the rot with a 2-1 victory over Queens Park Rangers in the third round of the FA Cup last weekend. No such luck for Tottenham, who went down to a 2-1 home defeat by Aston Villa for the second time this season.

“I completely feel the support,” Frank said when asked about his relationship with his bosses after the loss to Villa.

“No doubt about that. Of course, we are disappointed by the result and the fact that we don’t have better results. We need to put more and better performances together and keep pushing forward.”

The use of the word ‘together’ will prove superfluous if things do not improve for Frank and Tottenham soon.

Which one of these out-of-form teams will be feeling even more glum at 5pm on Saturday?

Tottenham to triumph

His long-term prospects would remain bleak even if Tottenham Hotspur were to emerge victorious this weekend, but Frank looks set to earn himself a stay of execution.

As bad as Spurs have been this season, they have not quite plumbed the depths of West Ham United.

Although their football has often been poor, Tottenham have at least been able to grind out results from time to time. Among many others, that is a quality West Ham lack.

It will not necessarily be pretty, but the home team should find a way to come out on top in this one.

Tight, nervy game?

Tottenham Hotspur’s last Premier League game was much more open than usual, as Frank’s men shared five goals with Bournemouth.

Generally, though, Spurs have been tough to watch this term. Only six sides in the division have been involved in lower-scoring matches than the north Londoners in 2025/26.

At the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, there has been an average of just 2.4 goals per game – the third-lowest figure in the Premier League.

West Ham United are equally shorn of confidence right now, so this does not exactly have the makings of a classic.

Bowen to bag

Eagle-eyed readers will have worked out that our final selection for this game means all three tips cannot be correct.

But given Tottenham’s shortage of attacking players and general poor form, it is worth using the anytime scorer market to hedge your bets.

Richarlison and Mohammed Kudus are both sidelined, while Dominic Solanke is not yet ready to start.

Randal Kolo Muani, Xavi Simons and Mathys Tel are likely to be in the XI, but those three players have scored four Premier League goals between them.

Jarrod Bowen is a more reliable goal-getter than any fit Tottenham player, so it is worth a punt on West Ham United’s talisman finding the net.
