Thursday horse racing tips
- HAYDOCK
2.15: Ballyeaston 13/8 (1pt)
2.45: Wal Buck’s 13/8 (1pt)
Ballyeaston
This is an intriguing maiden hurdle which sees plenty of runners but only a couple that have shown some form thus far over obstacles.
Solid Performer was 3/4 of a length off of breaking his maiden tag over 3m1f last time out and could offer more back down in trip, though the step up did seem to suit.
But Ballyeaston who is now 13/8 to win has shown so much consistency in his career with four top 3 finishes including three 2nd places.
He was close up here over an extended 2m3f in December and has had ample time to get ready for this to hopefully be a maiden no more.
Wal Buck’s
Maximilian has been involved in three very small field contests so far and each time finished 2nd, including in a match with Blue Las.
When stepping into a field of six last time out he was still a little below par and just like his clash with Wendigo was quite a distance back from the winner.
The move from 3m to 3m4f could eek out his potential but he’s having to do so when carrying 18lb more than the favourite Wal Buck’s.
And the John P McManus-owned horse looks to have the most experience and potential over further than 3m.
Won last time out by 34 lengths at Kelso over 3m2f on heavy ground and clearly being entered into this just three weeks later shows he could have much more to offer.
