Sunday football tips
Bet of the Day – Crystal Palace to beat Nottingham Forest @ 27/10
Brentford can be considered when they travel to Aston Villa, while Fulham are also of interest at Old Trafford, but Crystal Palace can be given another chance to perform when the Eagles head to Nottingham Forest on Sunday.
Marc Guehi’s move to Manchester City, the possible transfer of Jean-Philippe Mateta and Oliver Glasner’s impending departure have caused issues for the south Londoners but there is still talent in the Palace squad.
A chance has to be taken that Glasner’s exit won’t see the Eagles on a downward spiral, and while Palace were beaten 3-1 by Chelsea last time out, the south Londoners played pretty well in that contest and actually won the shot count.
Nottingham Forest fielded a strong side in their 4-0 Europa League victory over Ferencvaros on Thursday evening and Sunday’s Premier League tie comes on the quick turnaround.
Forest have scored only seven goals in their last seven top-flight games and it’s always a concern when taking a short price about a side struggling to find the net.
At 27/10, Palace look overpriced at the City Ground.
Bet Builder – Manchester City to win, over 1.5 goals and to win to nil bet builder @ 37/10
Tottenham supporters are unlikely to be delighted should Spurs beat Manchester City on Sunday, given that City are battling Tottenham’s fierce rivals Arsenal in the title race.
Thomas Frank is clinging to his job in north London and it’s only one win in eight Premier League matches for the Lilywhites.
Spurs have conceded seven goals in their previous three top-flight games against Bournemouth, West Ham and Burnley and it’s difficult to see how Frank’s side can stop Man City’s star-studded attack.
The Citizens have addressed some issues with the signings of Marc Guehi and Antoine Semenyo and Pep Guardiola’s men have lost only two of their last 14 games.
City’s last three victories have all come without conceding a goal and that can be repeated in north London.
Take a City victory, the Citizens to score over 1.5 goals and to win to nil in an 37/10 bet builder.
Acca – Brentford to beat Aston Villa, Fulham to beat Manchester United, Hibs to beat Rangers treble @ 53/1
Aston Villa have won 16 of their last 18 games, but 12 of those victories have come by a single-goal margin and Unai Emery’s men have certainly been riding their luck. Brentford are in the European picture and the excellent Bees could carry a sting at Villa Park.
Manchester United have recorded two excellent victories over Manchester City and Arsenal on Michael Carrick’s watch, but two-game form isn’t a huge sample.
Fulham have lost only one of their last eight Premier League games and Marco Silva’s side can spring a surprise at Old Trafford.
Hibs were beaten 1-0 at Ibrox last month and Rangers also downed the Hibees 1-0 at Easter Road in October. However, the expected goals numbers in the Leith contest finished 2.01 to 0.52 in favour of Hibs and the Gers were barely given a goalscoring opportunity. David Gray’s side are capable of upsetting title-chasing Rangers.
